The $1,800 treadmill for your CAT: Korean firm debuts 'intelligent personal trainer' that uses LED lights to coax your pet into working out
The Little Cat was on display at CES, promising to encourage cats to work out
It uses LED lights along the inside of the treadmill system to coax pets to step on
The smart treadmill also programs workouts for your cat and calculates BMI
And pet owners can tune into cat's activity from afar and play recorded message
A new household device aims to be the answer to pet obesity – at least, for those willing to shell out $1,800 for a treadmill. Korean startup The Little Cat unveiled its smart feline treadmill at CES in Las Vegas this week. Unlike other pet treadmills on the market, the pricey system is equipped with LED lights to motivate your cat into exercise, and allows you to set fitness goals.
The app-controlled device even lets pet owners spy on their cat’s activity when they’re not home, and give encouragement through recorded voice messages.
The Little Cat is designed to be a personal trainer and workout buddy for your cat, according to the firm. Its sleek design and neutral color options mean it should fit right in with your home décor.
But, most importantly, it will get your cat to exercise even if you’re too busy for playtime. ‘Inside The Little Cat, there is an LED lamp that follows the movement of the wheel,’ the firm explains in a promo video.
‘The cat instinctively follows the light onto The Little Cat.’
The system works with an associated app that lets you control the speed if you want to be involved in your cat’s workout. It also has an auto mode that will ‘provide the ideal workout program for your cat, and manage workout patterns.’
The Little Cat automatically calculates your cat’s body-mass index and can tweak the speed based on your cat’s needs.
While some cats may do well with just short, 10-second workouts, others may need several minutes. The inside is lined with a soft cushion mat, which is designed to prevent slips and paw injuries. It comes in four colors, and will be available as either a wireless or plug-in system when it launches this spring.
